Students at Montecito Union School returned to class for the first time on Friday. Many of them typically go to the store on Friday afternoons. This Friday, the store gave the students free food, candy and drinks.

Village Cheese and Wine reopened the day the mudslide happened to provide a restroom for emergency responders. Braid estimates the store also gave away more than 5,000 sandwiches to the responders.
